Now we must talk about the sacraments. We greatly need to be given some sure teaching about them by which we may learn for what purpose they were instituted and how one ought to use them. First we must understand what a sacrament is.1 It is an external sign by which our Lord represents and testifies His good will toward us to support and confirm the weakness of our faith. Otherwise it can also be defined as a witness to God’s grace made known by an external sign. By
